Biography: WILLIAM ISAACSON was the son of Richard Isaacson, Sheriff of London and Deputy Governor of the East India Company. He himself was a commencing bachelor in 1638 probably of the University of Cambridge. Both he and his uncle were deprived of their preferments in 1643, and the livings were sequestered. In 1644 through the influence of his father he entered the East India Company's service. He was at Suratt 1644-7, Fort St. George 1647-8, Suratt 1648-54, Fort St. George 1654-5 and 1658-61, when he returned home.
