Biography: JOHN HOUNSILL was appointed by the Directors in July 1670. He arrived with his wife and servants at Fort St. George in the middle of the year 1671, and was detained there to take the place of Newcomb by the Governor and Council. His name does not appear on the list of graduates of any of the British or Irish Universities. He died in the early part of the year 1673, being the third Chaplain to die on the Coast.
