Biography: JOHN TUCKER was a member of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and graduated in honours (double second class) B.A. 1813. He proceeded M.A. in 1817, and was elected Fellow of his College. After his ordination he was appointed to the charge of the parish of Southborough in Kent. There he remained till 1833, when he went to Madras as secretary of the C.M.S. Corresponding Committee, and Incumbent of the C.M.S. chapel in Black Town; he was an attractive preacher.
