Biography: THOMAS CARTER SIMPSON Educated at the Clergy Orphan School, which was then near London, and at Bishop's College, Calcutta, where he was from 1825 to 1828. He was ordained deacon at Calcutta and priest at Tanjore in January 1835. He was stationed at Tanjore 1833; Trichinopoly 1834; Negapatam 1836-37. He then went to Australia on sick leave. On his return to India he was stationed at Calcutta till 1849, when he returned home owing to ill health.
