Biography: WILLIAM LEEKE was appointed to Fort St. George in the place of Long in 1721. He was approved by the Archbishop of Canterbury and arrived at his destination at the end of that year. He was the son of Thomas Leeke of Lincell, co. Salop; he matriculated at Magdalen Hall Oxford in 1716 aged 18, and graduated B.A. in 1719. He died at Fort St. George in 1728.
