Biography: JONATHAN SMEDLEY was appointed at the same time as Consett for service at Fort St. David; he arrived there at the end of 1729, and died before the end of the next hot weather. He was of Trinity College Dublin; he graduated B.A. 1695, and M.A. 1698. He was Dean of Killala from 1718 to 1724, when he was appointed Dean of Clogher. This appointment he resigned in 1727.
