Biography: CHARLES EGBERT RENNET was a Eurasian and one of the best type. He combined a high intellectual subtlety with perfectly plain practical common sense. He was educated at the Bishop Corrie Grammar School and at Bishop's College, Calcutta. He was ordained deacon in 1851, and priest in 1853, by Bishop Dealtry. He was engaged in practical evangelistic work from 1851 to 1865 in Tinnevelly, and worked under Dr. Caldwell at Edyengoody in 1855-56. He became Incumbent of St. John s. Egmore, Secretary of the S.P.C.K. He died in 1884.
