Biography: JAMES JOSEPH HAYDON ELOUIS was born in England in 1803. He was an educationist who was appointed Assistant Teacher at the C.M. Institution, Madras, in 1838. He was ordained deacon in 1839, and priest in 1840, by the Bishop of Madras. After serving 11 years he retired in 1849. He afterwards became Vicar of Eyton, Hereford.
