Biography: ROBERT TURLINGTON NOBLE was born in England in 1809. After passing through Oakham School he graduated B.A., in 1839, from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1839, and priest in 1840, by the Bishop of Peterborough. In 1841 he went to Madras and founded the C.M.S. mission at Masulipatam. He also founded what is now called the Noble College; and in this effort he was greatly assisted by the Rev. H. W. Fox. After a service of 24 years he died at Masulipatam in 1865, and was buried in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
