Biography: Born Dec 21 1805 at Plymouth, Church minister Dartmouth (Stenner) educated at Highbury College, Mile End, London, completing in 1827. Ordained April 12 1832 at Dartmouth. He was appointed to Madras arriving Sept 16 1832. Joined Mr mith in th Madras Eastern District. Between Aug 1836 and Sept 1837 in Bangaore due to ill health and then again in April 1839. He returned to England, arriving aug 19 1840. Reembarked for India Sept 9 1845. Arrived at Bombay Dec 14th and went to Travancore. Arrived at Madras June 30 1846.April 1854 he again left for Bangalore and then the Neilgherry Hills. Returned to Madras Sept 1855. In May 1856 whilst visiting Pulicat he contracted cholera and died in Madras May 9 1856. He was the third missionary in charge of the Mission Chapel in Mukathal St, Vepery built in 1819, from 1834-1856, and the LMS Chapel in Davdson St between 1843-1852. His memoir "Memoir of the Rev. WH Drew" was written by JS Wardlaw in 1857.
