Biography: Born in 1801 in New Windsor, Salford, Manchester. Studied Blackburn Academy. Pastor at Hulme, Manchester. Appointed to Madras, arrived 20 August 1828. Publically recognised as pastor of the church at Black Town, Madras on 28 January 1829, and in July 1829 took charge of Eastern Division of the Madras Mission. He was the fourth missionary in charge of the LMS Mission Chapel in Davidson St, Black Town from 1828-1843. Between 1830 and 1836 he was stationed at the Royapurum District of Madras. During this time he spent time in Bangalore and the Neilgherry Hills on account of his health. Madras 28 January 1837 and then onwards to England. He returned to Madras September 1842 and in March 1843 went to Vizagapatum. and on May 15th 1843 he died on board the Favorite. The ship sank with all on board.
