Biography: Born 1 October 1792 in Bristol, brought up in Wakefield, Yorkshire, attended Gosport Missionary School. Ordained at Chichester 6 March 1816.Charles Mead arrived in Madras 26 August 1816, along with Charles Mault. Essentially replacing Ringletaube. He sailed for Nagercoil via Penang and Quilon leaving in September 1817 and arriving at Nagercoil 17 January 1818. In May 1825 he moved to Combaconum, establishing a new station there in May 1827. Appointed to Travancore Western Division in 1827. Neyoor in 1828. Plot to assasinate him in 1829. Left for England 5 December 1836 arriving back in India in Neyoor 5 April 1838. He married a native women which led to his removal from the LMS (his connection with the LMS was dissolved by the Board). and retired to Trivandrum where he was Superintendent of the Sircar Press and died there 19 January 1873
