Biography: Born 16 June 1803, Carlton, Glasgow. Church minister Glasgow 1822. Studied at Glasgow and Gosport. Appointed to Belgaum. Ordained 8 February 1826 Stockwell, Church London. Arrived Belgaum 19 November 1826. A serious illness compelled him to return to London arriving October 1827.
