Biography: Born 1794, Church minister Chelmsford, Essex. Studied Gosport. Appointed to India. Ordained 7 February 1816 at Chelmsford. arrived in Madras 26 august 1816 and then to Bellary on 27 September 1816. In January 1824 he was in Madras arranging the printing of the bible in Kanerese. On its completion in September 1824 he went to London returning to Madras 17 July 1827. He first went to Bangalore in December 1828 and then replaced John Hands in Bellary 29 July 1829. In 1831 he was again back in Madras working on another version of the Kanerese Bible. IN 1834 due to ailing health he retired to England. His connection with the LMS finished on 25 November 1835 and he became a pastor in Oswestry in January 1836. He died in Bristol 14 February 1850.
