Biography: FOSTER ROGERS was born in Ireland in 1809. He was at the C.M. College, Islington, for a short time in 1838. He was ordained deacon in 1838, and priest in 1839, by the Bishop of London. In 1839 he went to Madras and was stationed at Mayaveram. In less than two years he gave up the work and returned home. He became subsequently Vicar of St. Philip's, Leeds, 1845, and Rector of Barrow in Cheshire, 1872.
