Biography: JOHN BENJAMIN RODGERS was a Eurasian born in Madras and educated at the C.M. Institution there. He was employed as a catechist 1843-47. In 1847 he was ordained deacon by the Bishop of Madras, and in 1849 he was ordained priest by the Bishop of Calcutta at Madras. He worked at Madras, in the Tinnevelly District and at Masulipatanum, from 1843 to 1858, when his connection with the Society came to an end. He was then appointed Head Master of the Bishop Corrie Grammar School.
